Welfare
MPSA is the student association and we are here for you, the students. We’re more than happy to help with any queries you may have so don’t hesitate to ambush one of us at uni or send us a message at [insert mpsa email address]. Big or small, we’re happy to listen and help where we can.
· Supplementary Exams
o As current students will already be aware, the supplementary exams will no longer be offered on the Parkville Campus. So this is just a reminder to all those new students and the older wiser ones, use cramming ONLY as a last resort. Plan your work in the semester and avoid the dreaded F.
· Learning Support
o Our pharmacy library, CL Butchers Library, runs learning skills drop-in sessions and classes where you can pick up valuable skills either to help you perfectly write that next assignment or just an opportunity to further your abilities. Sessions are available for “drop-ins” (bookings not essential) Monday 10am-12pm Thursday 12-2pm If you’d like information on additional classes the friendly Learning Skills Advisor, Barry McElgunn, can be contacted at barry.mcelgunn@lib.monash.edu.au or Ph: (03) 9903 1013
The Monash website also has an online service where you can improve literacy skills you already have from the comfort of your own computer at home. This service can be accessed at the following address: http://www.monash.edu.au/lls/llonline/
· Employment and Careers Development
o Employment and Careers Development will be available for group or one on one appointments, drop in sessions and group training at Parkville on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Details are: 9 am – 12 noon (One-on-one appointments) 3 pm – 5 pm (Drop-in enquiries via the Student Services Counter) Visit www.careers.monash.edu.au for online resources, ask for an appointment at the Student Services Counter or email careers@pharm.monash.edu.au
· Lectopia
o To those first year students who aren’t aware, all of the lectures which take place at Parkville are recorded with an automated lecture capture and delivery system. This allows easy access to lecture material online within hours of a lecture and it provides teaching content clarification and assistance with revision. But, although it may seem like a convenient method, do not use Lectopia as your only means of learning. Going to lectures is still the best practice as Lectopia is only designed as an assistance tool.
· Leadership
o Monash Parkville offers many opportunities for its students to excel in leadership
§ Ancora Imparo Program
· Aimed at first year students entering second year, this program is designed to help passionate and idealistic students prepare for future leadership roles. You will be able to work with likeminded students from the many campuses to learn and grow as a student and a leader of tomorrow. First year students, keep an eye out for this prestigious and worthwhile opportunity later in the year.

§ Student Ambassador Program
· Student ambassadors are appointed as representatives of the Victorian College of Pharmacy for a term of 12 months and represent the Victorian College of Pharmacy at a variety of prospective student, current student, alumni and industry events. In return, Ambassadors receive a host of opportunities for skill and career development. Ambassadors are also paired up with the College’s Alumni who can provide insight into the industry and career advice. Applications are now open; why not give it a go!?
· Sports and Recreation – PRAC
o In the midst of studying hard for uni assessments it’s easy to forget exercise. However, with the revival of PRAC, the Parkville Recreational Activities Club (?), there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in that sporting event you are looking for! Whether it be rock-climbing, fishing or just a simple game of soccer you’re after, PRAC has it down for you. Join up, keep fit and have fun while meeting new people!
· Health, Wellbeing and Development Counselling Service

· Parkville Campus Prayer Room
o The Parkville Campus has a room designated specifically for prayer and reflection for all religious groups. The prayer room consists of two small areas, which are separated by a partition, with the first half allocated to male staff and students and the second half allocated to females. The prayer room is located on the second floor of the lecture theatre block (near the comp labs). Parkville Campus welcomes all Monash staff and students to spend time in this quiet, reflective environment amidst the hustle and bustle of university life.
· Clubs and Societies
o Although the Parkville campus may be small, there are endless opportunities for you to get excited about uni life! With a club for every student’s taste you’ll be bombarded with many fun events to participate in from paintball to cocktail evenings to cheeseburger eating competitions! Be open to new things, have a look around on the notice boards and GET INVOLVED!
